Have you ever felt like your always on the go? Rushing from one thing to the next, without taking a moment to breathe. It can feel like your caught in the never-ending cycle of obligations from family to work, leaving us exhausted and disconnected from ourselves. What would happen if we sat still for a moment? What would it be like if you gave yourself time to reflect, breathe, be bored. This can a scary thought for some of us. What would happen in that time when we were just with ourselves?
We might start to notice sensations in our body or feelings that we hadn’t paid attention to before. What is so important or powerful about this moment? It is a time when we can begin to feel our body and connect with our body in a new way. You might start to notice things that you didn’t notice before. This simple act of pausing is an act of self compassion. By giving yourself the gift of a break from the noise, you’re able to tap into your inner wisdom and intuition – that voice inside you that knows what you need and guides you towards your best self.
So why not take a moment right now and ask yourself: how am I feeling in this moment? Am I tense or relaxed, full or hungry or energized or tired? What ever it is, let it be a reminder to give yourself compassion and care. Start small and practice taking these moments of stillness throughout the day. In doing this you will open up a gateway for deeper reflections and insights. It is a small but necessary step in starting to renew and recover your connection to self.
